Exploring Careers 101
The American School Counselor Association (ASCA) defines career development as:
The necessary skills and attitudes for successful transition from school to work or post-secondary training or education.
Through Careerassist you will develop career awareness and begin exploring career possibilities to put you on the path towards a successful career pathway.
John Holland developed a popular theory of interest development based around six personality types termed the Holland Typology. It is important to remember that each "type" has both positive and negative qualities and no "type" is any better or worse than another type. The Holland Typology should be used as a tool to assist you in exploring your interests and abilities, and not be an absolute deciding factor of your skills, career choice or your potential.
